The penultimate director‘s film, exec-produced by Steven Spielberg, is a specific autobiography. In eight short stories with fantastical elements, Kurosawa presents his dreams from childhood to death. Japanese mythology is replaced by the memory of war, his meeting with van Gogh, played by Martin Scorsese, and apocalyptic visions.
