In the spring of 1968, Jan Procházka and Karel Kachyňa were at the height of their mutual creative collaboration. And yet, after their socially critical dramas Coach To Vienna and The Nun’s Night, they strayed to a chamber drama about two befriending outsiders, vividly evoking one of their previous films, The Hope.
