HOT TV: True Crime… A Fabricated Reality?
HOT TV: Skutečné zločiny… konstruovaná realita? / 90 min.
Since true crime deals with real events and real people, we get the impression that whatever is presented to us is an objective reality. But this reality is somehow constructed. The true crime genre is, somewhat surprisingly, defined by the retelling and subjective interpretation of real events. How do the audience’s expectations intersect with the possibilities of the TV production and the genre’s structure? Guests: media theorist Anna Rufer Bílá from Palacký University, documentary filmmaker and creative producer Erika Hníková (Single Moms, Virtual Girlfriend), producer Michal Prokeš (The Well), screenwriter Miro Šifra (Rédl, Rats, The Well), and producer Iva Jestřábová (Mathematics of Crime).
