Long Live the Republic!

Ať žije republika / Karel Kachyňa / CSR 1965 / 132 min. / HD file
The two-part widescreen feature film was created to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the liberation of Czechoslovakia. Its authors, Karel Kachyňa and Jan Procházka, avoid schematic glorification of the Red Army and present an unflattering image of a Moravian village abundant in greediness and self-indulgence and lacking any heroes whatsoever.
