Jerzy Kawalerowicz / Poland 1983 / 102 min. / DCP
It’s 1914, the beginning of the Great War, and a group of Jews, wanting to avoid the pogroms, finds refuge in the wayside inn Austeria run by old Jewish fellow Tag. Will they survive the first night of the war? Jerzy Kawalerowicz’s adaptation of the homonymous novel by Julian Stryjkowski resurrects the vanished world of old Galicia.
