In a world where millions of people suffer from mental illnesses, an international team of scientists searches for new ways of treatment. Every fourth person experiences some form of mental illness during their lifetime. Depression, anxiety and other mental health issues are not just isolated problems – they reflect the stressful and fast-paced nature of modern society. Tibor, Richard and Lucie have been facing depression for many years. Their journey is full of frustration and despair. Like thousands of other patients, they don’t respond to the traditional treatment by antidepressants. Just when it seems that there is no help, a new hope appears: ground-breaking research led by Dr. Tomáš Páleníček and his international science team. Their goal is highly ambitious. They want to find out if psychedelics can make a real difference in the lives of people with depression and open the door to new alternative treatments. They travel to the heart of the Amazon rainforest to test their laboratory results. The experience of the local indigenous people may provide a major breakthrough in their research.
