Silent Yet Eloquent: Yasujiro Ozu

Němý, a přece výmluvný Jasudžiró Ozu / 90 min.
The lecture will focus on the works of Yasujiro Ozu produced before the mid-1930s when, later than elsewhere in the world, the silent era was just ending in Japanese cinema. We will look at the structure of the studio system, the beginnings of Ozu’s career, strengthening his position in a competitive environment and constant building of his distinctive poetics. We will also focus on several specific films written and directed by Ozu during the era of silent film.
