Snake Gas

Hadí plyn / David Jařab / Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Romania 2023 / 112 min. / 15 years / DCP
An enigmatic story of a man who embarks on a self-discovery journey to the heart of European wilderness. David Jařab’s adaptation of the iconic novel from the beginning of the 20th century focuses on conflicts between cultures and continents while emphasizing xenophobia or colonialism. To put it simply, the film is a close examination of deep-seated prejudices among the privileged patriarchal Europeans.
