The Ballad of Piargy

The village of Piargy is scattered with sins and indulgences that shouldn’t escape God’s righteous punishment. Poor and headstrong maid Juliša marries the son of the richest local landowner. Yet, she is seduced by her father-in-law, with whom she starts a forbidden and passionate love affair. The black-and-white feature, based on the homonymous novel by Slovak prose writer František Švantner, offers an impressive and visually stunning ballad and rural drama revival.
