The Hidden Fortress

Akira Kurosawa / Japan 1958 / 139 min. / DCP
An adventurous historical story set in the times of warring Japanese clans shows the journey of a disparate group through enemy territory. In an unusual point of view, Kurosawa confronts the behaviour of two different social classes of aristocrats and peasants. The journey raises questions about the meaning of loyalty among Japanese aristocrats and, at the same time, is a source of comedy.
