The Ladykillers
Alexander Mackendrick / United Kingdom 1955 / 98 min. / Data file

The Ladykillers, the last independent gasp of the renowned Ealing studio under the
leadership of Michael Balcon, is at first glance an aesthetically stylized, cute comedy
quirk. But it can also be understood as a topical satire directed against England in times
of its conspicuous decline.
