Wicked City

Yiu sau dou si / Peter Mak Tai-Kit / Hong Kong 1992 / 91 min. / 18 years / DCP
Wicked City
This loose adaptation of a Japanese novel transforms the original cyberpunk subject into the story of an existential doubt. The year 1997 is approaching and with it the handover of Hong Kong to China. In this time of uncertainty, the city becomes an easy prey to demonic Rapters as well as the mysterious substance called Happiness. Wicked City transforms the fear of the future into the dark stylized vision of a world on the verge of collapse.
