Women from FAMU (FAMU80)
Ženy FAMU (FAMU80) / 90 min.
We usually associate FAMU’s history primarily with men (with notable exceptions such as Věra Chytilová and Agnieszka Holland). Men founded FAMU, ran it, determined its cultural and political direction, and for many decades largely dominated it, both among faculty and students. Tereza Czesana Dvořáková will focus on which fields of study and periods were more or less accessible to women. She will also introduce several notable female students from the 1950s and 1960s, including their work, and highlight some female FAMU staff members who are virtually unknown today but had a significant influence on student filmmaking.
