It was one of the most ambitious operations carried out by Czechoslovak military intelligence during the Cold War. It ended up in disgrace, but it was a success for the Swedish intelligence services. After forty years, this forgotten incident is being revived thanks to unique testimonies given by the key players on both sides. The documentary series Operation Viking focuses on a forgotten espionage operation carried out by the Czechoslovak intelligence in Sweden in the 1980s which was successfully uncovered by Swedish secret services. The story has now been brought to life by the journalists from the investigative and foreign affairs departments of Czech Radio. How did they come across this topic?
