Get Out Your Handkerchiefs is Blier’s first film in which the lives of the main couple are radically altered by a third person. But instead of the anticipated love triangle, Blier stages an absurd dramedy full of surprises. As a European liberal film, it won the 1979 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.
