Two injured gangsters have their car broken down on a small island in northern England. Dickie leaves his wounded pal behind and breaks into a castle up on a hill where a crazy middle-aged Englishman lives with his younger French wife. The remote island becomes a symbolic stage to four lives in desperate situations.
