Brynych and Lustig’s Transport from Paradise is, after Radok’s banned Distant Journey (1948), only the second Czechoslovak film which dealt openly with the horrors of the Holocaust. Its authors, however, wanted to avoid sensationalism and focused on the terrifying absurdity of everyday life in the Terezín ghetto.
